Topic: SALVATION THROUGH MERCY
Text: Titus 3:3-7
THE POSITION OF UNSAVED MAN.
For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived,
serving diverse lust and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another.
GOD’S PROGRAMME FOR SALVATION
But when the goodness of God our Savior and his love towards
man manifest, it is not work we did in righteousness, but “ACCORDING TO HIS MERCY HE SAVED US” BY REGENERATION
and SANCTIFICATION OF HOLY SPIRIT that abundantly poured on our head through our Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.
THE RESULT
For our JUSTIFICATION, and by His GRACE that
we may be joint heir according to the hope of eternity.
HOW CAN WE BE SAVED THROUGH GOD’S MERCY?
Acknowledging that Jesus is the only Savior. You must
believe Him for your salvation. Matt. 1:21say “And thou shall bring forth a son and shall call his name JESUS for he
shall save his people from their sins”.
- Discover yourself
as a sinner that needs God’s MERCY for salvation. I Tim. 1:13-16 says “who was before a blasphemer and a persecutor
and injurious but obtained MERCY, because I did it ignorantly in unbeliever. And the grace of our Lord was Exceeding abundant
with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. This is faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation that Jesus Christ
came into the world to save sinners: of whom I’m chief. Howbeit for this cause, I obtained MERCY.
- Confess your
sins and forsake them. Prov. 28:13 says “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper, but whoso confesseth and forsaketh
them shall have MERCY”.
THE EXAMPLES OF SALVATION THROUGH MERCY
Jesus says two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a pharisee and the other a publican,
the Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God I thanks thee that I am not as other men are Extortioners, unjust, adulterers,
or even as this publican standing afar off, would not lift up so much his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast saying,
God be “MERCIFUL” to me a sinner, I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other,
for every one that exalted himself shall be abased, and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted. Luke 18:10-14.
